GY336 Plastic Mould Steel Forging Block Excellent Performance on

GY336, originates from SUPER technology and is a type of high
quality plastic mould steel with high purity, homogeneous annealing
structure, no large-sized eutectic carbide.
After quenching and tempering, steel can get excellent corrosion
resistance, abrasion resistance and polishing performance.
GY336 is applied for making injection mould which is suitable for
corrosive PVC, acetate or raw materials of injection molding with
additive. It is also applied for making the moulds which are
working under moisture circumstances. It also can be used for
making the optical products (lens of camera and sunglasses) and
medical equipment (injector and prescription glass).

◆ Corrosion Resistance
GY336 can resist the corrosion of water, vapor, weak organic acid,
dilute nitrate, carbonate etc.. The mould made from GY336 has the
good rust resistance that is suitable for the plastic raw materials
stored under moisture circumstances.
GY336 shows excellent corrosion resistance especially under the
condition of low temperature tempering and polishing to mirror.
TIPS: No need of special protective agent for mould storage. Plenty
of protective agent is Chlorine-based that may destroy the passive
film of the mould and lead to corrosive pitting. The mould must be
cleaned and dried before its storage.
◆ Heat Treatment
Heating steels upto 890℃ in protective atmosphere; after soaking,
then have cooling in the furnace at the rate of 20℃/hr down to
850℃; and then cooling at the rate of 10℃/hr down to 700℃; finally
have air cooling.
Stress Relieving should be done on the die after rough machining,
heating upto 650℃, heat preservation for 2 hours; Slow cooling down
to 500℃, further air cooling.

Preheating in two steps as per A: 650℃ and B: 850℃.
Austenization as per C: 1020-1050℃
Direct cooling as per D, or Sectionalized cooling as per F:500-550℃

Refer to Tempering Diagram. Choose the proper tempering temperature
for required hardness.
Temper at least 2 times.
After tempering, it must need cooling down to room temperature.

Tempering Temperature (2h+2h) ℃
1. Holding time means the duration of die steel from total heating
2. During hardening process, steel must be heated to avoid
oxidation or decarburization.
3. Steels need to be tempered immediately when temperature gets
down to be 50-70℃.
4. To get excellent property for the die, the quenching speed
should be as fast as possible,
but should avoid the case of being out of shape or cracks.
